Suicide Squad
100 words or less:
How can I do this justice in 100 words, it is absurd, hilarious, gory, strange. I absolutely loved every moment of the stylized, fight scenes, the insane deaths, and the potty humor. James Gunn is a master of taking these characters no one besides the most intense comic book fans know of and making them lovable and relatable despite being bad guys in the universe of the movie itself.
Fiancé review:
I am not a fan of gory movies. That being said, this movie has the redeeming qualities of a cute animal sidekick, vulgar humor, and Idris Elba. It is good for a few laughs but there is a constant and gratuitous amount of blood. Harley Quinn adds some welcome comedic relief. I will never look at Patrick Star from SpongeBob the same way again.
I give it 5.5/10 javelins.
Full review:
Quick warning. If you don’t like gratuitous amounts of gore, don’t see this movie. It is one of the more intensely gory movies I have seen in quite a while.
That being said, this movie is amazing. From the plot actually making cohesive sense as opposed to the previous suicide squad movie, to the constant humor ranging from poop and fart jokes to more thoughtful comedy, all the way to the amazing soundtrack, this movie hits every single checkbox for me to be an amazing movie.
While watching this movie, I caught myself a couple of times just smiling because it was just a wonderful experience. going into this I had high hopes for it because of how great James Gunn did with Guardians of the galaxy. I was blown away with the quality of this movie.
I need to talk about the soundtrack for a moment now that I have mentioned Guardians of the galaxy. Obviously that movie has probably the greatest soundtrack in recent cinematic history because of the way the mix tape works with the plot of the movie and is used to enhance and introduce characters like Starlord. I would argue that this movie is up there in terms of the soundtrack. Not sure if that is because James Gunn controls it or if that is a coincidence but the soundtrack is fantastic.
The cast of characters in the movie are all amazing, but don’t get too attached to them as there are quite a few deaths of characters in this movie. The cast in general are amazing. Margot Robbie is excellent as always as Harley Quinn, Idris Elba is slowly becoming one of my favorite actors in Hollywood, John Cena is supposedly in the movie but I didn’t see him. (that’s a joke for all the wrestling fans out there), and the supporting cast are amazing (I don’t know all of their names but I should find out because they were great).
Overall, I highly suggest you see this movie, as long as you can deal with the high amounts of gore in it. It was a super enjoyable experience and I loved this movie.
10/10 rats named Sebastian.
